Wayne
Our plan is to head south sometime between early to mid-November in "Cool Change", our 42 foot boat.  The boat is being prepared for the trip which will encompass more than 1000 miles roundtrip.  All systems are functional although some tweaking is yet to be accomplished.  New equipment is being added to meet our needs for living on the boat for extended periods of time.  We have just received a new piece of equipment for Cool Change, a 2000 watt inverter / charger to convert 12 volt DC battery power to 120 volts AC power.  We will use the batteries to produce AC power for things like TV, microwave, lamps, hair dryer and, of course, Colleen's sewing machine for quilting.  I have mastered the design for the DC side of the power equation as of this posting.  The AC side is still in the mental design stage now.  During our next visit to the boat I will determine what will be needed in the way of changes and hardware to support this AC side of the power system.  Also to be determined is where to mount this 59 pound inverter / charger.

Time is closing in toward the beginning of our big adventure.  It's surprising to realize how many details have to be in place for us to leave home and live on a boat for months at a time.  What about the mail, membership in the YMCA, bill paying, clubs we belong to, the newspaper we subscribe to and the weekly local newspapers that are dropped in our front yard?  These all are gradually coming under control but, as a friend said to me today, "The big question is who is going to cut and color your hair, Colleen."  Indeed.
Wayne feels really confident about this adventure.  He has gone'way out of his way to make sure I can do what I like on the boat - read, sew and read and sew.
